The work contains a collection of 27 regulations and directives of European contract law and is indicated to be used in practice, research and teaching. Contract law is increasingly harmonized within in the European Union. A large number of contract law regulations in the Member States are based on European directives. According to the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice, these regulations have to be interpreted in conformity with EC directives. This means that conflicting law of the Member States is not applicable. In cases of doubt, national law has to be interpreted in the light of the underlying directives. This collection is supposed to provide practitioners with an easy access to the relevant directives. As the wording of the regulations and directives is equally binding in any official language, the publication is trilingual. A multilingual approach considering the wording of the other official languages helps to clarify the interpretation of the directives themselves. Today, European contract law is also object of intensive academic research. This collection should provide academics with the relevant material in a comprehensive and yet convenient way. At the same time it contributes to the systematization of the regulations and directives according to their belonging to the various subareas of contract law. Finally, the curriculae and syllabuses of law faculties take into account the increasing importance of European contract law. Courses dedicated to this subject are frequently offered. This collection supplies to interested students with relevant material which is structured in a distinct way. The directives and regulations in the area of contract law are arranged according to continental European codifications. The majority of the texts represent regulations and directives of contract law. These are again subdivided into the subareas "formation of contract" (I), "content of contract" (II) and "specific contracts" (III). There is a particular section dedicated to regulations and directives of "electronic commerce and the protection of personal data" (IV). Consequently, directives and regulations about European "tort liability" (V) follow.
